5 Strategies for Maintaining Your Focus on God Despite Chaos
Life may be quite hectic at times, don't you think? One minute you're enjoying your morning coffee, feeling fortunate and favored, and the next you're out there avoiding curveballs like you're in an action film. The truth is, though, that we can always rely on God, regardless of how chaotic life becomes. Let's now discuss five strategies for maintaining your focus on Him when everything else seems to be moving in the wrong direction.
1. Laugh It Off
We all know that life can be hectic at times, but sometimes laughing is the greatest thing to do. Really, when God has everything under control, why worry about the little things? According to Proverbs 17:22, "A cheerful heart is good medicine." Therefore, keep in mind that laughter is your divine remedy when life tries to cast you into a deep hole. Laugh it off and let the joy to fill you, whether it's through a humorous video, a phone conversation with a buddy, or simply making jokes with your children. You're capable!
2. Take Some Time to Spend With God... For Just Five Minutes, At Most,
I understand. Spend a little time with God. No more than five minutes. Life is busy. Work is beckoning, the kids need attention, and the laundry pile is judging you from across the room. What do you know, though? If you can take a coffee break, you can take a moment for God. Give yourself five minutes to get going. You can pray, spend time in the Word, or just sit quietly and let His peace fill you. If I'm right, you should take advantage of those occasional "five-minute moments." I promise you that a little spiritual examination with God may be just what your spirit needs to revitalize.
3. Put your phone down and get a Bible.
We've all been tempted to get sucked into TikTok or to scroll through Instagram incessantly, sis. Please understand that I enjoy a good viral dance just as much as the next gal. However, it's time to disconnect when you're preoccupied with the most recent celebrity controversy or lost in someone else's gossip column. Instead, reach for your Bible. I can assure you that the Bible is far more satisfying than whatever trouble your friend's relative is causing. He says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalms 119:105). No one's meme will do that, will it?
4. Sing to the one and only true God, Despite Not Being Able to Play a Tune.
Sis, I am aware that some of you are out there pretending to be Beyoncé's vocalists. For the rest of us, however, who sound more like a cat being trodden on, I can assure you that God is not concerned with your vocal range. Your sincerity and gladness in praising him are what He cares about. You should turn up your worship music and sing as if no one is listening (since, really, no one is judging). According to Psalm 100:2, "Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing." It automatically elevates your mood, and let's be honest—who doesn't want to sit in their car and feel like they're on stage at the Grammys?
5. You are not alone in this, so remind yourself of that.
In conclusion, always remember that you are a part of a wider family. In life, you are not by yourself. Getting caught up in your own troubles might easily cause you to lose sight of the help that your sisters in Christ offer. Join together in prayer, offer mutual support, and share your burdens. For support when life becomes too much to bear, turn to your community. As stated in Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, "Two are better than one...if either of them falls down, one can help each other up." Helping one another is the goal of the body of Christ. So don't be afraid to contact me, even if you just need a prayer or a short laugh.
Let's discuss what is actually happening in the Christian world today. There is a great deal of disarray, misunderstanding, and yes, distraction. It feels like the world is attempting to draw us into its drama, from contentious church conversations to social media debates (don't act like your church isn't crazy sometimes). Nevertheless, we are still waiting for Jesus to return. What's the point, then? The answer is straightforward: Jesus remains the same today, yesterday, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He doesn't find the political results or the chaos we witness on television shocking. He is not stressed and is above everything. Therefore, we also shouldn't be!
Let's now discuss the aftermath of the election. Sincerely, some of you are still acting as though the world is ending. No, sis! The world has previously experienced anarchy, and guess what? It was nevertheless saved by Jesus. Therefore, take out your Bible, open to John 16:33, and keep in mind that "you will have trouble in this world." But don't worry! I've conquered the planet. Boom. Mic drop. We face challenges, but Jesus has already conquered them. So why, while we are sitting on the throne of grace, are we out here stumbling over political drama?
And let's not even discuss how the Christian community has responded to this. Some of us are praying for power, some for peace, and some are still attempting to determine how we should feel about the whole thing. But for a moment, can we be honest? Our true problems will never be resolved by politics. Jesus alone is able to. Our ultimate loyalty as Christians is to God's Kingdom, not to a political party or a politician. Thus, God's plan will be carried out regardless of who has authority. Please, let's clarify that!
Now, I understand that some of you are asking themselves, "But what about all the unfairness, Cheryl? What about everything that has to be fixed? I hear you, girl. Believe me, I do. The problem is that God still has authority and a plan. Although His methods are superior to ours, that plan may not always appear like what we would like it to (Isaiah 55:9). We must occasionally take a step back, relax, and have faith that God is at work in ways we aren't yet able to perceive. Even though we don't entirely comprehend it, he is doing something.
Speaking of action, have you looked at the current state of gospel music? It seems as though God is using music to remind us that He still has authority because of the incredible new singers and songs that are making an appearance on the radio. Fire tunes that speak to our souls are being released by artists such as Jonathan McReynolds, Tasha Cobbs, and Kirk Franklin. Come on, these songs are proof that Jesus is King! They are raising awareness, encouraging us, and reminding us of the true leaders. Gospel music serves as a lovely reminder that our King is seated on His throne, so let's continue to support it!
However, the truth is that we Christians must never forget that we are not of this world. "In the world, but not of it" is what the Bible says we are (John 17:14-16). Thus, we should not become enmeshed in the chaos, even if we should remain aware and fulfill our civic duties. I understand that you might be feeling exhausted, anxious, or as though you've been inundated with bad news. Actually, I do. But never forget that Jesus remains King and that His Kingdom will last forever. We need to take a step back, concentrate, and allow Jesus to guide our life rather than the media, social media, or polls.
Ultimately, we must remain focused on the goal, which is Jesus' second coming. No election outcome will alter that. Therefore, let us walk in the peace that only Jesus can bring, be strong in our faith, and stand firmly in the truth. The wonderful news we must spread throughout the world is that His Kingdom will never end.
Take a minute and give your worries to the Lord if you're experiencing anxiety or worry about the future (1 Peter 5:7). Sis, he's got it. He has everything under control. So let's pray for wisdom, chuckle at the mayhem, and keep in mind that Jesus is still in charge. Regardless! 🙌🏾👑
